The First World War (often abbreviated as WWI or WW1) was a global war. It originated in Europe and lasted from 28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918. This war is also known as the Great War or "the war to end all wars”. It was fought in Europe by two sections, known as triple entente and triple alliance. This war was sparked with the assassination of the Austro-Hungarian heir Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and Serbia was blamed for this assassination.
