Hint: Relief features refer to the landscapes in India. They are the mountains, valleys etc. The relief features of a country display the topography of that area.
Complete answer: In India, there is almost all the variation of relief features. India is one of the only few countries that have all the different types of physical features. The reasons with examples of why there is such great variation in the physical features of India are:
- The Peninsular Plateau is the oldest landmass in India, geologically. The plateau is mainly made of old crystalline rocks and igneous and metamorphic primary rocks.
- The Himalayas in India, which are one of the most important physical features, are geologically very young and neatly and structurally folded mountains. They cover the Northern boundary of our country. They have a young topography compared to others. The Himalayas consist of high mountain peaks, fast-flowing rivers and deep valleys present everywhere.
- The Northern plains are formed of the alluvial deposits that are brought by the three rivers of Indus, Ganga and Brahmaputra.
- The Indian Thar desert located in Rajasthan is an undulating sandy plain, fully covered with sand dunes. This region in India has an extremely arid climate and very low vegetation compared to others.
Note: Due to a large extent of latitudes and longitudes, India has a variation of tropical, frigid as well as temperate zone features.
