Hint:pH is the value of hydrogen ion concentration. The pH is everywhere from our body blood to the material we use and has very much chemical effectiveness in our daily lives. One can explain its importance in many biological processes and in soil and materials we use daily.
Complete step by step answer:1) First of all we will learn about the pH value where it denotes the concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution. Now, as we know everything is chemistry around us and thus the pH plays a very important role in performing the chemical reactions.
2) Now we will discuss the importance of the pH as below,
i) In the digestion of food:
pH plays a very important role in the digestion of food in our stomach. In the stomach, the secretion of hydrochloric acid happens which changes the stomach pH between one to three and this pH range is responsible for the activation of the pepsin enzyme which will digest the food.
ii) In soil:
The soil pH plays a major role in the growth of plants and crops. The ideal pH for the growth of plants is 6.3 to 7.3 which will be responsible for the good growth of plants. If the pH is acidic the lime is added to neutralize the acidity and gypsum is added to neutralize the basicity of soil.
iii) In the prevention of tooth decay:
The pH of the mouth becomes acidic. The bacteria in the mouth will decompose the food particles in the mouth and they form more acids in the mouth. This will result in decay of the teeth and to prevent this pH is maintained by the use of toothpaste which is basic in nature.
iv) pH of blood:
Human blood has a pH range of 7.0 to 7.8 which is slightly alkaline in nature and it's also a basis for optimum survival. If the pH changes more than this range then the body fails to function well.
Note:pH is a very important aspect of every chemical process. The pH below 7 is acidic, above 7 is basic and 7 shows the neutral nature. The copper materials are made clean by cleaning them by acidic pH solutions.
