Hint: The central highlands are a part of Himalayan Range. They include the main part of the Hindu Kush mountains. Its area is about a hundred and sixty thousand square miles and has peaks which rise above twenty thousand feet.
Complete answer:The Central Highlands include many regions. It refers to the Peninsular region extending from the southern border of the North Indian Plains up to the Narmada Valley. The Aravali Mountain Range, East Rajasthan Upland, Malwa Plateau, Bundelkhand, Baghelkhand, Chhota Nagpur Plateau and the Vindhya Range include their division.
Their locations include the Aravali Range in Rajasthan which is the western boundary of the Central Highlands, and stretches in south west-north east direction. They also include east Rajasthan uplands , the Malwa Plateau border on the Aravallis in the east, Baghelkhand to the southeast of Bundelkhand , east of the Malwa Plateau and north of the Vindhya Range which spreads across the western Madhya Pradesh to Bihar.
The Malwa Plateau is located at it southwestern parts and is characterized by low relief and undulating topography. It is located in Aravalli region in west and Vindhya region in the south.
Madhya Bharat Pathar is located to the east of Marwar upland. Bundelkhand plateau lies along the borders of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Baghelkhand plateau lies to the east of the Maikal range. Chota Nagpur plateau is located at the north east part of Peninsular plateau.
Note:The extension of the Peninsular plateau can be seen as far as Jaisalmer in the West. Here, it has been covered by the longitudinal sand ridges and crescent-shaped sand dunes called barchans. This region of central highlands has undergone many metamorphic processes in its geological history.
