MOET – It is also known as Multiple Ovulation Embryo Transfer Technology.

In this method a cow is administered hormones, with FSH–like activity, to induce follicular maturation and superovulation. (Due to superovulation the cow produces more than 6–8 eggs per cycle instead of one egg per cycle. This superovulated cow is mated either with an elite bull or artificially inseminated. The fertilised eggs at 8–32 cells stages are recovered non-surgically and transferred to surrogate mothers. Then they are removed from them as progeny in them are increased and have desirable characters now. There are many advantages of this method as listed below.
> It increases no. Of offspring per female
> The progeny can be obtained with desired traits.
> It allows us to store the stock that is limited
> It also allows us to preserve genetic variability.
> Live animals are transported less so there will be less chances of disease transmission.
Note: MOET is extremely useful and beneficial technique as it allows us to increase the progeny number that normally cannot be increased up to such amount. It also allows improved quality and quantity.
