Evolution, the term was given by Herbert Spencer. It is the slow and gradual change in an organism that leads to changes in the properties of the population or the groups of such populations over a period of generations. It can also be summed as the cumulative change in living population with respect to its descendent population. This is a continuous process and will grow till the existence of the universe as it has been in the past.
Classification can be expressed in terms of scientific ordering of organisms in a hierarchy on the basis of their relationship in morphological, evolutionary and other related terms. Another more scientific term for classification is known as taxonomy. The basic idea is that classification is done on the basis of similarities and differences that a population possess with regards to their structural similarities and evolutionary relationships. For example all cat-like species of animals belong to the family Felidae.
Now we have basic ideas about evolution as well as classification. It is quite visible that the base of classification is considered with respect to its evolutionary basis and so we can definitely say that evolution and classification are interlinked with each other.
