Monomer is made up of two words mono + mer where mono means single and mer means part, hence monomer is known as single part and monomer combine with each other to form long chain polymers or three dimensional compounds and this process is known as polymerization.
Polymers are formed by the process of polymerization. It is the process in which small monomers are joined together through the process of addition polymerization and there are many industrial and other uses of polymers.
Ethane is the alkene form of ethane where ethane is having chain of two carbon atoms and ethene is kept in the category of alkene where alkene are those compounds which contain double bond in them and can be represented by the chemical formula $C{{H}_{2}}=C{{H}_{2}}$.
Hence as we discussed that single unit will combine with each other and form polymer of that monomer i.e. here the monomer given is ethane represented by $C{{H}_{2}}=C{{H}_{2}}$and this will combine in the following manner to form polymer:
\[C{{H}_{2}}=C{{H}_{2}}+C{{H}_{2}}=C{{H}_{2}}+C{{H}_{2}}=C{{H}_{2}}+n\ \text{times}\to {{(-C{{H}_{2}}-C{{H}_{2}}-C{{H}_{2}}-C{{H}_{2}}-C{{H}_{2}}-C{{H}_{2}}-)}_{n}}\]Here n may be 4,5,6 and so on.
