In 1881 , Upendranath Mukhopadhyay launched the Basumati Sahitya Mandir after he took the permission of Sri Ramakrishna.Barin was influenced by Aurobindo and drawn towards the radical movement. He was sent to Calcutta in 1902 to organise insurgent organisations.In 1906 , to dissipate the insurgent beliefs and to furnish zeal to the Swadeshi movement, Barindra Kumar Ghose commenced a Bengali weekly-“The Jugantar”.

In 1907, he launched the Maniktala group with Bagha Jatin and limited young rebellious activists for the compilation of arms and ammunition and constructing explosives.
He was convicted to death by the litigation inferred as the Alipore Bomb Case. Later, the penalty was commuted to life detention and was taken to the Cellular Jail in Andaman in 1909 . In 1920 , Barindra Kumar Ghose was acquitted. In 1933 , Barindra Kumar Ghose inaugurated English weekly, The Dawn of India. He was also related to The Statesman newspaper and received the designation as a columnist. In 1950 , he served the editor of the Bengali daily Dainik Basumati.

Note:In 1961 , the Basumati Sahitya Mandir drove into inner crises. It was procured by Ashoke Kumar Sen, the then Union Law Minister in 1962 . In 1970 , the volume of Dainik Basumati was postponed and the Basumati Corporation Limited shut down. But, in 1971 , it reopened again.
