Hint:Brain is one of the largest and most complex organs in the human body. It is made up of billions of nerves that communicate in trillions of connections called synapses.

The brain is made up of many specialized areas that work together:-
(i) Cortex: It is the outermost layer of brain cells. Thinking and voluntary movement begins in the cortex.
(ii) The brain stem: It is present between the spinal cord and the rest of the brain. Its basic functions are breathing and sleep control.
(iii) The basal ganglia: It is a cluster of structures in the center of the brain. It coordinates messages between multiple other brain areas.
(iv) Cerebellum: It is present at the base and the back of the brain. It is responsible for coordination and balance.

Note:Brain acts as the “command and control system”. It controls the voluntary movements, balance of the body, functioning of vital involuntary organs, thermoregulation, hunger and thirst, circadian rhythms of the body etc.Brain is also the site for processing of vision, hearing, speech, memory, intelligence, emotions and thoughts.
