How does the endocrine system affect the excretory system?

Hint: Endocrine system refers to different organs and glands that secrete various hormones that reach the specific organ or tissue of the body.

1)The functioning of the endocrine system and the excretory system helps to regulate many other functions of the body.
2)Hypothalamus which is an endocrine gland can easily detect the water levels in the body and can stimulate the release of different enzymes to maintain the proper water and fluid level in the body.
3)The hypothalamus cannot directly detect the water level but it can do so by detecting the electrolytic content of the body, if a body has comparatively low electrolytes, the hypothalamus detects this condition as over hydration whereas the higher electrolytic concentration describes dehydration of the body. Now accordingly, the hypothalamus stimulates the release of enzymes.
4)When the body is dehydrated, the antidiuretic hormone is released from the pituitary gland which absorbs water from the nephron of the kidney and brings the water level back to its normal level. Thus the endocrine system can affect the excretory system to regulate the fluid balance of the body.
Note: Along with the antidiuretic hormone, aldosterone also plays a great role in maintaining fluid balance. The aldosterone hormone does not absorb water, but it regulates the ions and electrolytes present in the body which indirectly maintains the fluid balance of the body. The aldosterone hormone is released by the adrenal gland.
