Hint :Matter is anything or everything that occupies space and possesses some mass, while energy is specified as a property which a matter can possess and it does not have any mass.
Complete Step By Step Answer:
The term ‘Energy’ came from ‘energeia’ which is a Greek terminology which means operation or activity. Energy is basically a property of an object, it does not contain any mass, it is the ability to cause a change or to do work and hence energy is required in physical or chemical processes to carry out the work.
Energy can be transformed from one form to another or from one object to another. There are various forms of energy; some of them are kinetic energy, potential energy, gravitational energy, chemical energy, thermal energy etc. Energy cannot be measured but it can be calculated by means of physical quantities of an object.
Now, talking about matter, it does not have any specific definition, it is defined as to be a thing which occupies space and has mass. Matter requires energy to perform any activity. Any physical stuff present in the entire universe can be called matter. Matter can be found in three phases namely solid, liquid and gas. There are different properties of Matter such as mass, Volume, density, temperature etc.
Note :
We can break down matter into various other substances and also can convert it from one physical form to another whereas we cannot create or destroy energy but can convert it from one form to another.
