These activities are also called allied sector activities or agricultural activities.	These are activities that provide services to society. Like, lawyers, doctors, salespeople.
These activities focus on jobs that rely directly on natural resources.	They may not provide a physical good, but they provide services.
People performing these activities include fishermen, coal miners, farmers etc. Since they have to interact with their respective natural resources, they will be living close to places with a good supply of their resources.	The location for tertiary activities is going to depend on where it is needed. For e.g. a hospital is not going to be made in an isolated place. It will build in a place where there will be people to avail its services.
These activities are unorganized and often use traditional techniques. The most important of all the primary activities is ‘agriculture’.	Tertiary activities are well organized and use modern-day techniques and logistics to function.

Thus, the above differences are seen between primary and tertiary activities.
Additional Information:
Another major sector of activities is “Secondary Activities”. These activities use raw materials to produce or manufacture new products of greater value. For e.g. Growing wheat and oats is a primary activity and processing it into cereal is a secondary activity. The location for these activities depends on the transportation of the products to the markets and the costs. The goal here is to maximize one’s profits by providing finished goods.
