Births, deaths, and migration are considered to be the main components of population change. The difference between live birth and death is defined as a natural increase. The difference between people moving into an area and people moving out is called net migration. The countries which are going through demographic change are India, China, and the United States. The forms of these changes vary not only among the three nations but also in various regions of the three countries.
1. The component of population growth is birth. Birth can be defined as live births per thousand persons in a year. In India, the major component of population growth is birth since the rate of birth is higher as compared to the rate of death. In a given population the birth rate is called Natality. If the birth rate is higher than the death rate it is considered a natural increase.
2. The second component of population growth is death. Death can be defined as the number of deaths that take place every year per 1000 people in a population. If the death rate exceeds the birth rate it is considered a natural decrease. The main cause for the increase in the growth of the population in India is due to declining in the death rates. Mortality is the term used for the death rate in a given population.
3. The third component is migration. Migration can take place on an internal and international level. If the migration takes place at an internal level it doesn’t cause the population size in a nation. Natural increase and decrease in the population can be rectified by migration. It can balance the population.
