Hint:The transistor is a fundamental component in the means of electricity. It is a semiconductor device. This device is used for both conducting and insulating electric current and voltage. We can also say that it acts as a switch and an amplifier. And power transistors are transistors that are used for high-power amplification. It is used for handling a large number of power levels in a device or a circuit.

Normal transistors are usually used for amplifying and switching purposes. Whereas power transistors are used in circuits like battery charging and power supply.Physically powered transistors are larger than normal transistors. And power transistors are capable of carrying more current without melting or burning the transistors.
When we apply input current to a pair of terminals we can observe a change in the current in other terminals. This is what normal transistors are capable of, that is they act as a switch or amplifier. Whereas power transistors act like a heat sink that protects the transistor from heating or burning while carrying more current.


Note:The power transistors are available in the form of NPN, PNP, and Darlington transistors. The range of the collector current is from 1to100A and for the operating frequency it ranges 1 to100MHz. Also, the power values range from 1to300W. The heat sink is constructed by connecting the collector terminal to the base of a metal device.
