Hint: In order to understand the difference between the Rhombus and Diamond first we need to understand their shapes. Then only we can know the exact meaning behind both words. Actually rhombus is a more “mathematical” term while diamond is more general. Diamond term is attributed to a shape presented on all cards of the suit “diamonds”.
Complete step by step solution:
In geometry, a rhombus is a flat shape with 4 equal straight sides. In rhombus all sides have equal length and opposite sides are parallel, and opposite angles are also equal.
But diamond also has four sides and its all four sides are equal and opposite sides are parallel to each other, but when we draw diagram of diamond it is looks different from rhombus.
But when we rotate this it will look like rhombus. That is why geometrically both rhombus and diamond are the same.
But if we look at them without their geometry they both are different. The main difference between diamond and rhombus is that the diamond is an allotrope of carbon and rhombus is a quadrilateral in which all sides have the same length. But in mathematics, the rhombus is often called a diamond.
Note: Sometimes we get confused in both of them because at preschool level, when learning about shapes, a diamond is generally shown with a vertex at the bottom, so the shape is standing on a point. And we see rhombus is generally drawn with a side at the bottom. That's why we get confused in both of them.
