Hint:
Mir Qasim was the Nawab of Bengal in the period of 1760-1763.

Complete step by step solution:
Mir Qasim died in 1777. He became the Nawab of Bengal with the support of the British East India Company. He replaced his father-in-law, Mir Jafar, who was himself supported by the East India Company earlier right after his role in winning the Battle of Plassey for the British. Eventually, Mir Jafar ran into disputes with the EIA and he tried to form an alliance with the Dutch East India Company instead. Britishers eventually defeated the Dutch at Chinsura and Mir Jafar was overthrown and replaced by Mir Qasim.
Mir Qasim later fought against British at Buxar and his defeat is known to be the key reason in the British becoming the dominant power in major parts of North and East India. Qasim ran into disputes with the Company mostly over trade issues. They objected to his attempts to levy import and export tariffs on their goods. Particularly, they objected to a 9% duty imposed on all foreign traders. The relationship between them kept on deteriorating and he eventually shifted his capital from Murshidabad to Munger which is presently in Bihar. He raised his own army there. He financed his troops by using tax collections.
Qasim invaded Company offices in Patna in 1763 in which several Europeans were killed, He allied with Shuja-ud-Daula of Avadh and Shah Alam II, against British. But this combined force group was defeated in the Battle of Buxar in 1764.

Note:
Qasim lost all his men and influence after being defeated at Buxar and he was expelled from his camp. He died in anonymity and crawling poverty. People had to sell his two shawls, his only property left, to pay for his funeral.
