Hint: Vapor state of a matter is also known as the gaseous state. Define the conversion of a matter into this state and name its process. Recall the factors that affect the process.
Complete step-by-step answer:
When matter or substance is heated, its temperature increases, at a certain temperature the state of the matter also changes and it is known as ‘phase transition’. One of the most common examples is the melting of ice and the boiling of water.
Vaporization is the process of transition of a liquid into vapors when heat is provided to it. The temperature at which a liquid turns into gas state or vapor is called boiling point or Vaporization point. At this point the weak molecular bonds of liquid break by taking in the Latent heat and the molecules become freer i.e. becomes gas.
Vaporization process depends on the factors, which are: temperature, surface area, wind speed and pressure.
Additional information:
Vaporization can take place in two types: Boiling and Evaporation. Boiling occurs when the vapor pressure is equal to the atmospheric pressure. It is a bulk phenomenon. Whereas, evaporation is a surface phenomenon and it occurs when the atmospheric pressure is more than the vapor pressure.
Note: During the process of a phase transition, it is important to remember that the temperature during the process remains constant. For example, if one heats water from say ${{20}^{\circ }}C$ in order to boil it, as the boiling point of water at normal temperature and pressure is ${{100}^{\circ }}C$, the water will get heated to that point. And as soon as boiling begins, the temperature will remain ${{100}^{\circ }}C$.
