Hint: To solve this question, we will, first of all, consider any line from AB, BC, and AC and draw. After this, by using a compass, we will make an arc of the above defined cm to construct the third point of the triangle ABC. Then, finally, we will make the second arc by another point of the line and then join to get the triangle ABC.
Complete step-by-step answer:
We have to construct a triangle ABC. Consider AB = 13cm. We will do the construction and write the steps of it.
Steps of Construction
Step 1: Construct a line of length AB = 13 cm.
Step 2: With a point on A of the compass and length of the compass as 12 cm, draw an arc on the upper side of the line AB
Step 3: With the point of the compass on B of the compass and length of the compass as 5 cm, draw an arc cutting or making on the previous arc.
Step 4: Mark the cut as C and join AC and BC.
Thus our triangle ABC is formed.
Note: The students should not get confused to take different sides of the triangle as the base. Suppose if we take AC = 12 cm as a baseline then to draw AB = 13 cm, we would locate the compass on A making 13 cm, draw an arc again from B, we would measure the compass as 5 cm to draw BC. So taking the different lines as the base doesn’t matter, as the triangle is always the same.
