Dead plant matter decays and forms peat. This peat is converted into coal by heat and deep burial pressures over millions of years. Peat can be referred to as a precursor of coal. Petrol is also called gasoline. It is primarily used as fuel and is a flammable liquid derived from petroleum. It mostly consists of organic compounds. Hydrocarbon materials are produced by the heating of the coal which when burned in presence of oxygen is used as fuel. On the contrary, if it is burned in the absence or lack of oxygen hydrocarbons are captured and modified into the pitch. The pitch can be converted into carbon fibers which is used to produce a composite material that is strong and light. A derivative of petroleum known as polyacrylonitrile is used to produce carbon-fiber composite material. Coal and petrol are primarily used as fuel but it is also used to make synthetic fibers. Nylon is a synthetic fiber produced from coal, water, and air. Nylon is considered to be the first commercially synthesized fiber.
