Hint:- Cirrhosis is also called ‘Hepatic cirrhosis’ , which is a deadly liver disease caused due to excessive consumption of alcohol which damages the liver in such a way that is generally irreversible. Hepatitis and chronic alcoholism are also other forms of liver diseases .

Complete Answer:-Cirrhosis as above mentioned is caused by excessive consumption of alcohol it is generally a last stage of fibrosis which causes scarring of liver which is irreversible in nature as scarring is at peak point and liver is almost damaged which further can not be treated any more. As the liver is injured by any cause it has capacity to repair itself but as cirrhosis progresses it becomes difficult for liver to function properly upto its efficiency, severe and advanced cirrhosis can be even life threatening.
Early diagnosis helps a lot in treating the cirrhosis, but damaged liver cannot be undone. It doesn’t show any signs or symptoms unless the damage is extensive and further symptoms are Itchy skin, fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss, redness of the palms, swelling in legs etc.
Causes by which extensive cirrhosis can occur are cystic fibrosis, chronic alcohol abuse, iron buildup in the body, hardening and scarring of bile ducts, wilson’s disease, biliary atresia, jaundice etc. These were the various reasons by which cirrhosis can occur.
The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse has stated that heavy drinking for example five or more drinks in a day for around eight years can easily cause this disease.

Hence the correct option is (B).

Note:- Liver cirrhosis is generally caused at the age of 30 to 40 years after heavy drinking over the years. According to American Liver Foundation it is stated that between 10 to 20 percent of heavy drinkers will develop cirrhosis. As disease progresses in the body symptoms become more noticeable.
