Hint: The British parliament sent a delegation in March 1946 to study India’s political situation and find a solution to the problem. The delegation met Lord Wavell and Indian leaders to formulate a plan known as “Cabinet Mission”.

Complete step by step solution
Aim of cabinet mission: Its main objective was to bring complete self-rule in India. It aimed to establish a new constitution and a temporary government for India.

Cabinet mission plan:
1. An Indian Union will be formed by combining British provinces and native states. Under the Union of India, there will be a national policy, defence and communication system, for which the Union will also have to raise the necessary funds.
2. The Union will have a corpus and legislature consisting of representatives from British provinces and native states. All other subjects will be under the government.
3. Provinces were empowered to form separate government-related groups. Different provinces of India are divided into three groups-a) Madras, Bombay, United Provinces, Central Provinces, Bihar and Orissa. b) North-Western Border provinces, Punjab and Sindh. c) Bengal and Assam. Each group was empowered to take a decision regarding its subject and submit the remaining subjects to the provincial cabinet.
4. The subjects which are not handed over to the Union by the native states will be the right of the native states only.
5. The following things related to the framing of the Constitution were contained in the

Cabinet Mission:
1. One member will be elected per one million population.
2. Representation in the constituent Assembly of the provinces will be given on the basis of population.
3. The practice of giving minority groups more than the population will end.
4. The princely states will also be given representation on the basis of population.
5. England will hand over power to India. There will be a treaty between India and England to decide the matters that arise in this regard.
6. A provisional government will be established at the centre and representatives of all major parties of India will be included in it. All the departments of the central government will be under these representatives and the viceroy will preside over them.
7. The meeting of the Constituent Assembly will be held in Delhi and the president and other officials will be elected in the initial meeting.
8. The system of the separate constitution for the provinces was also under the scheme. Each group will decide in relation to its constitution and to remain in the Union.

NoteFinally, on 14 June 1946 both the congress and the Muslim League approved the scheme.

So the correct answer is an option (B) 1946 AD. Cabinet mission came to India in 1946 AD
