Hint: Our body is composed of two kinds of cells. The body cells or the somatic cells which make up the body of an organism whereas the sex cells form the gametes which take part in reproduction. Gametes can be either sperm or the male sex cells or egg cells called the female sex cells.
Complete answer:
Cells are the fundamental unit of an organism. It carries out all the metabolic and physiological functions needed by the organism to survive. Some organisms are unicellular which means they are made up of single cells. This single cell performs all functions including the reproduction. The other organisms are multicellular in which different cells perform specific functions. Our body is multicellular which is divided into two kinds of cells- The body cells and the gametes.
Let us discuss the difference on the basis of properties, location, function of these cells.
Note: Mitosis is the process of cell division which takes place in the somatic cells. The body cells grow, repair through the process of mitosis. Meiosis is important for the division of reproductive cells. The gametes give rise to germ cells by the process of meiosis.

| Body cells | Sex Cells |
| The body cells form the body of the multicellular organism. | The gametes form the sex cells which take part in reproduction. The sex cells are sperms and egg. |
| The body cells divide by the process called mitosis. | The gametes divide by the help of meiosis. |
| The body cells contain a complete set of chromosomes and are diploid in nature. | The gamete cells are haploid. They contain a single set of chromosomes or are haploid. Each set of chromosomes is contributed from each parent to form a diploid zygote. |
