It also is the largest residential university in Asia. Campus is spread over 1300 acres built on the land donated by Kashi Naresh Prabhu Narayan Singh who was the hereditary ruler of Banaras. South campus is spread over 2700 acres of land dedicated to agricultural science centre located in Mirzapur District.
