Mui’zz Uddin Mohammad Ghori was born as Shidab Uddin, also known as Mohammad of Ghor, and was the sultan of the Ghurid Empire along with his brother Ghiyath Uddin Mohammad. He is also credited with laying the Muslim rule in the Indian subcontinent. He ruled over Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and northern India. Mohammad Ghori took the city of Ghazni to avenge the death of ancestor Muhammad ibn Suri at the hands of Mahmud of Ghazni. He entered India through Multan, which is the modern-day Patan in Gujarat.
