Hint: Uterus has a triple layered wall and it is a hollow organ. It is the region where implantation occurs after fertilization. It is also known as the womb.

Complete answer: Uterus is also known as the womb. It is an inverted pear-shaped, hollow muscular organ present in females in the pelvic region between the urinary bladder and the rectum. During gametogenesis or oogenesis in females, an ovum is produced. After insemination, sperm enters into the vagina of the female and into the fallopian tube where fertilization between the sperm and ovum occurs which results in the formation of a zygote. The zygote then develops into an embryo in the uterus as implantation or attachment of the embryo occurs in the womb. The process of formation of an embryo from the zygote is known as embryogenesis. Through the umbilical cord, the embryo gets its food and exchange of gases occur through the placenta. Myometrium is the middle thick layer of the uterine wall. If no fertilization occurs, shedding of the endometrial lining takes place, which is otherwise known as the menstrual cycle. The uterus in humans is only present in females.
Hence, the correct answer is option C.

Note: The three wall layers of the uterus are: an outer tunica serosa called as perimetrium, a middle thick tunica muscularis called as the myometrium and an innermost layer tunica mucosa, called the endometrium. Implantation occurs in the endometrium layer of the uterus.
