Diploid organisms: Those organisms having paired sets of chromosomes in their cells are termed as diploid organisms. Their chromosomes are represented as 2n ('n' is the number of chromosomes). Example: Humans
Mitosis: It is one of the natural methods of cell division taking place in living organisms. In this process, the parent cell divides to form two new independent daughter cells each having a pair of chromosomes.
Meiosis: It is another natural method of cell division taking place in living organisms. In this process, the parent cell divides two times producing four daughter cells, each having single chromosomes. It is followed by mitotic division of cells.
