Hint: A series of wars were fought during the last three decades of the eighteenth century. The wars were fought between the Kingdom of Mysore and the British East India Company. These wars were called the Anglo–Mysore Wars.
Complete answer: The 1st Anglo-Maratha War fought from 1775 to 1782. It was fought between the British East India Company and the Maratha Empire in India. The war ended with the Treaty of Salbai.
The 2nd Anglo-Mysore War started in 1780 and continued till 1784. It was one of the bloodier battles. In Sep 1780, Tipu Sultan defeated Lord Baillie. He further defeated Lord Braithwaite at Kumbakonam in Feb 1782. Tipu Sultan continued the war following his father's death and consequently, the war ended with the signing of a treaty on 11th of March 1784, the Treaty of Mangalore, which restored the status quo antebellum.
The third Anglo-Mysore War started in 1790. Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore conquered the nearby state of Travancore. British forces commanded by Governor-General Cornwallis gave him a befitting reply. The war continued for three years. Finally, the war ended in 1792, after the Siege of Seringapatam and the signing of the Treaty of Seringapatam. The treaty implied that Tipu Sultan had to surrender half of his kingdom to the British East India Company.
Peshwa Baji Rao II and Scindia, both, were defeated by Yashwantrao Holkar, at the Battle of Poona. In December of the same year, the Treaty of Bassein was signed with the British East India Company.
Thus, the option (B) is correct.
Note: The 1st Anglo-Mysore War started in 1767 and continued for two years till 1769. Hyder Ali was quite successful against the British, almost capturing Madras. The British along with the Nizam of Hyderabad attacked Hyder. Ultimately, it resulted in the Madras government requesting for peace, and a treaty was signed known as the Treaty of Madras.
