Hint: We are given the following numbers and we have to arrange them in a descending order arranging in descending order means to arrange the number from the largest to the smallest example: $10$,$8$,$7$,$5$,$4$ are arranged in descending order to arrange the numbers to arrange the digits the bulky digits in descending order which is of numerical value in lakhs then in case of such digits first we compare the digits of all numbers at lakhs place then we arrange them on bases of the digits at lakhs place if two digits are similar at lakh place then we compare them at ten thousand places and if any problem occurs then we compare them at thousands place. After comparing the digits at different place values. We arrange them from largest to smallest

Complete step by step answer:
Step1: We are given the numbers are $6,00,780$; $5,56,879$; $6,87,340$; $4,76,980$. Firstly we will find the highest place value for each number.
On finding the highest place value of each number. Each number is at lakhs place.
Step2: We will now compare the digits of the numbers at lakhs place then we find at lakhs place digits of the number $6,87,340$ and $6,00,780$ are the same so we compare these two digits at ten thousand places.
Step3: On comparing $8$ is larger than $0$. Hence $6,87,340$ is greater than $6,00,780$
Step4: After the overall comparison of the digits of numbers at different place values. We find that,
$6,87,340 > 6,00,780 > 5,56,879 > 4,76,980$

Hence option (C) is the correct answer.

Note:
In this type of question, students mainly do mistakes in finding the highest place value of a digit of the numbers. Sometimes the numbers have different highest place value in that case students get confused and do mistakes like they consider all of them at the same place value. They should find the highest place value and then compare the digits at each place like comparing at lakhs followed by ten thousand’s, thousand’s, hundred’s, ten’s, and one’s place
