Staphylococci ("staph"), streptococci ("strep"), and pneumococci are examples of Gram-positive bacteria.
Gram negative bacteria: Bacteria that do not retain the crystal violet stain used in the Gram staining method of bacterial differentiation are known as Gram-negative bacteria.
