Hint: We know that halogens are 17th group elements in periodic table are known as halogen family. Halogens have the same valence electrons i.e. 7. They require only one electron to form a full octet.

Step by step solution:
The name halogen comes from the greek words ”hals”, meaning ‘salt”, and “gen”, meaning “to make”. The halogen group contains the elements are : F,Cl,Br,I,At.
F- Fluorine
Cl- Chlorine
Br-Bromine
I-Iodine
At-Astatine
The halogen requires only one electron to form full octet. This makes all halogens more reactive. There are many similar properties of halogens are:
They all are fairly toxic.
They all form acids when combined with hydrogen.
They readily combine with metals to form salts.
They have seven valence electrons in their outer shell.
They all exist as diatomic molecules (two atoms ) when in their pure form.
They are highly reactive and electronegative in nature.
Fluorine is one of the most reactive elements. And simple compounds that contain halogens are called halides. The first halogen to be isolated and recognized as an element was chlorine.

Note: All halogens don’t have the same electronegativity. They have different reactivity orders And they have different bond making or electron donating tendencies.
