Hint There are different types of vegetation in India. Out of these, there are five major types of vegetation in which Mangrove forests are included. These mangrove tidal forests are also home to wildlife.
Complete step by step answerThere are different types of vegetation like Tropical Evergreen Forests, Tropical Deciduous Forests, Tropical Thorn Forests, and Scrubs, Montane Forests, and Mangrove forests. The tidal forests are found in the areas of coasts which are influenced by the tides. Mangrove forests are one such kind and so-called mangrove tidal forests. These tidal forests are found in the areas of the coast influenced by tides. Thus, the mangrove tidal forests are also found in the coastal areas. Mud and silt get accumulated on these coasts. This mud and silt lead to the vegetation of mangroves. The roots of these plants penetrate under the ground and get submerged in the water. The common varieties of mangroves form a dense forest. This type of vegetation is found on the deltas of the Ganga, the Mahanadi, the Krishna, the Godavari, and the Kaveri. Sundarban delta is the world’s largest delta which is formed on the mouth of Ganga-Brahmaputra with more number of mangroves. The mangroves there are called Sundari trees. Trees such as coconut, palm, keora, agar, etc., are also grown in some parts of the delta.
Note The rhythmic rise and fall of ocean water level caused by the combined effects of gravitational forces exerted by the Moon and the Sun and the rotation of the Earth. Mangrove tidal forests even provide shelter for wildlife such as the Royal Bengal Tiger. Other animals like turtles, crocodiles, gharials, and snakes are also found here.
