Hint: Contamination means polluting something by making it impure. Contamination of water makes it unhealthy for our use so write about all the ways through which we contaminate the water.

Complete step by step solution:
1. Sewage water- Sometimes untreated sewage is thrown directly into rivers. It contains food wastes, detergents, microorganisms, etc.
2. By bathing and washing clothes near a water body.
3. Cremation of the dead bodies near river banks.
4. Oil spill by oil refineries.
5. Throwing chemical waste into waters - Many industries discharge harmful chemicals into rivers and streams, causing the pollution of water Examples are oil refineries, paper factories, textile and sugar mills, and chemical factories.
6. Dumping agricultural waste into water- many farmers throw harmful and dangerous pesticides into the water which not only harms the water but also endangers aquatic life.
7. Because of heat spilled into water by power plants:- discharging hot water while cooling power plants means changing the temperature of the water source, which encourages the species to change and it alters the biology of the water. Thermal pollution is comparatively as dangerous to sediment pollution.
8. Most dangerous source of water contamination is Non point sources which are very tough to detect where the pollution is occuring from.
like from indirect sources, like agricultural runoff, mining waste, paved roads, and industrial activity. In it toxic chemicals and compounds make their way into the water system just the same— through rainwater drainage, melting snow, and running rivers and its water is polluted.
9. Acid rain:- when the fossil fuels are burnt it releases compounds that interact with the H20 in the air, which pollutes the raindrops which includes nitric and sulfuric acid, which pollutes the water and ground when it pours down in the form of rainwater.

Note:- Contamination of water can be done by bacteria and parasites by making it polluted and poisonous for human use. Industrial waste, slit and soils can also work as a pollutant for the water.
