Complete Step by Step Answer: The Northern Plains form an area of immense significance in Indian history. The plains have supported the rise of early civilization. It extends for 3200 km between the mouths of the Ganga and the Indus, all along the foot of the mountain rim. Both the Indus and the Ganga civilizations evolved in the plains as the plains provided them agriculture. Rich soil cover, suitable climate and adequate water resources supported agriculture.

It is said that the plain is an area of monotonous relief having little variety in its geomorphological features. The reason why a large number of people reside in the Northern plains are
