Hint: We have to know the parts of the electrolytic cell and the process of electrolysis.
We know that electrolysis is a process in which decomposition of ionic substances takes place when electricity is passed through them. Interchanging of ions and atoms takes place either by the addition of electrons or by removal of electrons from the external circuit.

Complete step by step answer:
We have to understand that the process of electrolysis takes place in electrochemical cells.
An electrochemical cell contains the cathode, which is positive, anode, which is negative, and an electrolytic solution.
We know that an electrochemical cell transforms chemical energy to electrical energy or vice-versa.
Let us define anodizing.
An electrochemical process, which converts the surface of metal into anodic oxide, is known as anodizing. The anodic oxide formed would be decorative, durable, and resistant to corrosion.
An element that is ideally the best for the process of anodizing is aluminium. We can also anodize metals like magnesium, niobium, titanium, tantalum and a few other nonferrous metals.
Anodizing process is used larger for a variety of metals in industry. The anodized materials have improved structure and have longer durability. A few advantages of anodizing are,
-Improved appearance
-Strength
-Higher durability
-Protective coating on metallic surface
Let us look into applications of anodizing. Some of the applications of anodized materials are,
-Sporting boats and goods
-Parts of motor vehicle
-Equipment for food preparation
-Appliances
-Furniture
-Jewellery
-Abrasion control

Note:
We must know that the anodizing provides a unique colour base for painting on the surface. It enhances the resistance of corrosion towards products based on aluminium. It is done on jewellery made out of silver.
