According to the given question we are given two polynomials which are linear in nature and we need to add them. Also, we know that the polynomial is an expression that consists of variables and coefficients where variables are also called the indeterminates. Polynomials also involve the addition, subtraction, multiplication and non-negative exponentiation of variables.
In the given question we can clearly see that the first polynomial consists of one term 3x i.e., the coefficient is 3 and variable is x and similarly the second polynomial is 7x where coefficient is 7 and the variable is x. Now, since the variables are the same therefore, we can easily add them.
Now, for adding two variables as told before we need to add the coefficients of the same variable with the same degree and hence, we attain the solution.
Therefore, in order to add these two variables, we will add the coefficients 3 and 7 of variable x and hence the sum will be 10x.
Therefore, the sum of 3x and 7x is 10x.
