Hint: solid and liquid are the two states of matter. In solids the, the intermolecular forces are high as compared to liquids. Liquids have fluidity whereas solids are rigid. Solids have less amount of kinetic energy than liquids or gases.

Complete Step by step answer: solids have a definite shape, and we know they have a lower amount of kinetic energy than the liquids. When the temperature increases the kinetic energy of solids increases, the particles gain the energy and start to vibrate vigorously about their fixed position, and hence expansion takes place. At a particular point solid converts to liquid. The process of conversion of solid to liquid is called melting.
Le chatelier’s principle states that if a dynamic equilibrium is disturbed by changing the conditions, the position of equilibrium shifts to counteract the change to reestablish that equilibrium again. If a chemical equilibrium experiences a change in temperature, pressure or concentration of reactants or products, the equilibrium shifts to the opposite direction to counteract the change.
Now solid to liquid conversion is an endothermic process, it takes energy to change into liquid from solid.
So if there is equilibrium between solid and liquid, and when we increase the temperature. Then according to le chatelier’s principle, the equilibrium shifts to counteract this change in increase in temperature. Since this process is endothermic, equilibrium shifts to the right side. That means the volume of liquid increases.

So the correct option will be D, amount of solid decrease.

Note: An exothermic reaction occurs when the temperature of a system increases because of heat evolution, and this heat is released to the surrounding. An endothermic reaction occurs when the temperature of a system decreases.
