A point of reference may be a place or object used for comparison to work out if something is in motion. An object is in motion if it changes position relative to a point of reference.Objects that are fixed relative to Earth – like a building, a tree, or a symbol - observe reference points.

Frame of reference: So as to understand the change in position of an object, a point of reference is required. Point $O$ within the figure is the point of reference or Origin and alongside three axes, this technique is named the frame of reference. A frame of reference with a time-frame is called a frame of reference.

A point of reference in physics may be a point in space, no matter the sort of geometry that you simply are using that stays still and doesn't move. From now the behaviour of an object moving through that space is often determined.
