Class 1 Chapter 13 CBSE Hindi Worksheets - Bandar Gaya Khet Mein Bhag

Summary:

CBSE Class 1 Hindi chapter “Bandar Gaya Khet Mein Bhag”, is an eight-line Poem written in four sweet rhyming couplets. The poem describes the adventure of a small and funny monkey, that is to say, “Bandar”, who ran into the forest and had fun all by himself.

The poem starts with the running of the monkey in the forest because he had plucked the saag, which is to say the green vegetables from the farm. After arriving at the forest the monkey burnt the fire to cook the plucked “Saag”. Once the saag was boiled he ate stomach-full. Then he cleaned his mouth with the “Dub” meaning grass. And finally, he fell asleep in the forest.

The poet uses exciting language in composing the poem, especially the use of sound words (which we call onomatopoeia”. Poet describes all the actions that the monkey does with the words like “Chattar-mattar”, khaddar-baddar, saapad-supad etc”.

Exercise:

There are in total four exercises, each dealing with a different aspect and making the student think differently.

  • The very first exercise says that the Monkey used “Chalani” as the mattress to sleep on and “Sup” as a comforter to cover himself up. So what other things that can be found in the woods will the other animals can use to sleep. The names of the four animals given are elephants, ants, squirrels, and a lion. You have to think and write what they might be used as a mattress to sleep on and what they might be used to cover themselves, in the given space.

  • The second exercise deals with one of the important aspects of the poem, “bandar gaya khet mein bhag”, which is the use of the words that describe the sound. As the poet has used many of such words in the poem, we too use such words in our day-to-day life. For example, we use “Jhatpat-jhatpat” for fast-moving, so we can say “Bandar ran jhatpat-jhatpat”. Similarly, you have to write such words describing the events that are given in the question, which are four in total.

  • The third exercise is the most exciting of all, and will definitely make you laugh. The name of this exercise is “Bhaago, Bhaago, Bhaago!”. But now you do not have to run to solve this exercise, instead, you have to run your mind. The exercise says that the Bandar (monkey) ran from the farm after plucking the saag, because obviously if he would remain at the farm the farmer would beat him. So, what kind of thing that you may have done will make you run from a place?

  • The last one is a simple visual exercise in which a total of twelve images of different types of caps are given and you have to find out how many types of Topees and Paghdis are there?
