Hint: Zoji La means “mountain pass of blizzards”. It was seized by Pakistani Raiders during the Indo-Pak war of 1947-1948 in their campaign to capture Ladakh. The Indian forces recaptured the pass on 1 November during the operation of Bison which achieved success.

Complete answer: A high mountain pass in the Himalayas is Zoji La in the Indian union territory of Ladakh. It is located amidst the Kashmir Valley lying to its west, the Drass and Suru valleys lying to its northeast and the Indus valley further east are connected to the pass. Its elevation is 3,528 m (11,575 ft). It is traversed by the Srinagar – Leh highway and is located in Ladakh, India. The pass is traversed by the national highway 1 which is between Srinagar and Leh in the western section of the Himalayan mountain range. The all-weather Zoji-la Tunnel is now constructed to mitigate since vehicle flow stops during winter every year due to heavy snowfall. Zoji La has located about 100 km from Srinagar and 15 km from Sonmarg. It provides a vital link between the Kashmir valley and Ladakh. In January 2018, the Government of India approved the Zoji La tunnel project. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the commencement of its construction in May 2018.

Thus, option (A) is correct.

Note: Zoji La is the second highest pass, after Fotu La, on the Srinagar – Leh National Highway. Driving through the pass in winter would be like driving between thick walls of ice. So, it is often closed during the winter.
