Hint:This question is simply related to the way we used to find our percentage. It is just a fraction in which the whole quantity is in the denominator and the quantity whose percentage is to be found is in the numerator. Then on simplifying it we multiply it by 100 to get the respective percentage.

Complete step by step answer:
Given information is food costs are ₴2500 and total food sales are ₴71,500.We are asked to find the percentage of food costs. Now as we mentioned above we will express this in fraction form and then multiply it by 100.Thus percentage of food sales is given by the fraction,
\[\dfrac{\text{food costs}}{\text{total food sales}}\]

Now putting the prices or expenditure as expressed and multiplying it by 100,
\[ \dfrac{{2500}}{{71500}} \times 100\]
On solving we get,
\[ \dfrac{5}{{143}} \times 100 = 0.0349 \times 100\]
Multiplying by 100,
\[3.49\% \]

Thus the percentage of food costs is 3.49%.

Note:Food costs are just a part of that total sales. So as we know a fraction is nothing but the way we express a part of the whole. We generally use the same way in which we find the percentage, the partial part is in numerator and the whole part is in denominator. Always remember when we find a percentage we are finding the part of that quantity in 100.
