Hint: It is possible to dry a wet object through the evaporation of water. We need to find a method by which the evaporation takes place at a fast rate because faster the rate at which evaporation takes place, faster will the wet shirt become dry.
Complete answer:
We are given a wet shirt which we need to dry in some way in order to wear it to party. We know that if the water evaporates fast from the wet shirt, then it can become dry quickly. So, there are many methods by which we can increase the rate of evaporation like the ones given below:
1. By using a fast fan: If we keep the wet shirt in front of a fast moving fan then the fan will regulate the dry air in the surroundings towards the shirt. Since the dry air evaporates water faster than wet air, the shirt will start to get dry at a fast pace.
2. By hanging it in the sun: The heat from the sun raises the temperature around the wet shirt and higher the temperature, faster the rate of evaporation of water from the shirt. If the heat from the sun is high then the shirt will get dry faster.
3. Using a hot iron: If sun is not available then we can also use a hot iron which will work in the same way as sun but the rate of evaporation is slower in this case since we have to manually supply heat to every part of the shirt.
By using the above methods, we can dry the shirt at a faster rate.
Note:
It should be noted that evaporation is a phenomenon which takes place on the surface of water. The water molecules gain energy from the air molecules coming in contact with them and they break their bonds with other water molecules, changing their state from liquid to gaseous.
