Hint: We have to learn the various methods through which we can separate the mixtures. Some of the methods are given below. This will help us to find out the various methods through which we can separate the mixtures.
Complete answer:
Handpicking: It is used to remove the small pieces of stones and other unwanted particles from rice, wheat etc.
Threshing: The method of threshing is mainly used in the harvesting of crops. Threshing is the process in which stems of wheat or paddy are beaten to separate grains from the stems.
Winnowing: After the method of threshing the process of winnowing takes place. This method uses wind for separation of lighter particles from the heavier particles.
Filtration: It is used to remove the unwanted sand like particles from water etc.
Evaporation: It is used to remove salt from the sea water.
Sedimentation: In this method the dust particles like chalk are separated from the water. In this method the heavier particles settle down on the bottom of the flask and hence the heavier particles can be separated down.
Distillation: Distillation is a process of separating the components or substances from a liquid mixture by selectively boiling and condensation.
These are some of the methods, which can be used for the separation of mixture.
Note: In the separation technique we use the help of the properties such as shape, size, mass, density etc. to separate the materials from the mixtures. The mixtures can be defined as the random distribution of one substance through another without another any chemical reaction.
