-It is also called filariasis.
- It is caused by a filarial worm – Wuchereria
-W. bancrofti and W. malayi are the two species which cause the disease.
-It causes a slowly developing chronic inflammation of the organs in which they live for many years, usually the lymphatic vessels of the lower limbs.
-The genital organs are also affected.
-The pathogen is transmitted to a healthy person through the bite of the female mosquito vectors.
2.Ringworm
-Ringworm disease is caused by a fungus.
-Fungi belonging to the genera Microsporum, Trichophyton and Epidermophyton are responsible for ringworm. It is a common infection in humans.
-The main symptoms of the disease are appearance of dry, scaly lesions on various parts of the body such as skin, nails and scalp..Lesions are accompanied by intense itching.
-Heat and moisture help the fungi to grow.It is usually transmitted from towels, cloths or even comb of the infected individuals.
