Write the full form of IVF.
Hint: IVF or in-vitro fertilization can be defined as the fertilization outside the body in a similar environment. After the completion of fertilization, the embryo is planted in the uterus of the female.
Complete answer:
A significant number of couples around the world are infertile, i.e. unable to bear children. The causes for this may be many-physical, congenital, disability, medications, immunological or even psychological. Couples with infertility issues might be encouraged to have children through certain special strategies generally known as assisted reproductive technologies (ART).
IVF stands for In vitro fertilisation, which is fertilisation outside the body under exactly the same conditions as those in the uterus. It includes a complex set of treatments used to aid with pregnancy and to assist in the conception of the baby. In this process, generally known as the test tube baby procedure, ova from the wife or donor (female) and sperm from the husband or donor (male) are extracted and induced to form a zygote under simulated laboratory conditions. The zygote or early embryos with up to eight blastomeres will then be moved to the fallopian tube and embryos with more than eight blastomeres are moved to the uterus to complete their development. This leads to successful pregnancies and birth.
Note: IVF is the most powerful type of assisted reproductive technology. IVF can be used to treat infertility in the following patients: blocked or weakened fallopian tubes, diminished sperm production or sperm motility, endometriosis, females with ovulation defects, early ovarian failure, or uterine fibroids.
