Hint: To solve this question, we will use the theory of the Cartesian plane in 2 Dimensions .
According to the theory of the Cartesian plane in 2-Dimensions, given by French Mathematician Rene Descartes is a system used to describe the position of a point. The idea invented was to place two lines perpendicular to each other on a plane and thus locating points on the plane with reference to these lines.

Complete step-by-step answer:
He placed one line horizontal and one line vertical and started locating points on a plane with the help of these lines. The horizontal line is called the x-axis and the vertical line is called the y – axis. The intersection of these lines is called Origin whose coordinates are (0,0). The points on the right side of origin are positive and the point to the left of origin is negative. This whole combination divides the plane in four equal parts known as quadrants. They are known as the 1st quadrant, 2nd quadrant, 3rd quadrant and 4th quadrant. These quadrants are of high importance and are used to determine the position of any point on a plane. So,
Horizontal line is called the x-axis and the vertical line is called the y-axis.
Each part of the plane formed by these two lines is called quadrant, namely, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th quadrant.
The point of intersection of these lines is Origin having coordinates (0,0).

Note: The Cartesian theory is used everywhere. From Mathematicians to Architects, everyone uses the Cartesian plane extensively because it makes it easy to find the point. Any point on the plane can be found with the help of its coordinates which are the distance with reference to the x-axis and y-axis. Any mathematical problem can be easily understood when we use the Cartesian plane. Through Cartesian theory of 2 Dimensions, most of the questions are solved.
