Hint: Environment is anything surrounding us where the living and non-living component interact with each other. Environment conservation is the practice by human beings to prevent and protect it from damage.
Complete Answer:
- Due to overconsumption, overpopulation and advancement in technology, the environment is being degraded both temporarily and permanently. This degradation is continuously causing huge damage to both the environment and human lives. So there is an urgent need for the conservation of nature and natural resources.
- The government and non government organisations have set up several practices for environmental protection. The objective of these practices is to conserve natural resources and environment where possible and repair and reverse the damage. Since 1960, environmental movements have created awareness for various environmental problems.
Steps for environmental protection:
Recycle, reduce and reuse are the three ways by which we can protect our environment,
1. Recycle- It is the use of old products in a new way. For example glass bottles, paper, polythene can be recycled.
2. Reduce- It means to minimise the waste we generate. For example we can reduce the use of paper.
3. Reuse- Reuse means using items more than once. For example use of steel or metal utensils rather than disposable ones.
These three steps are the key to protect the environment and should be rampantly applied to protect nature.
Note: The benefits of 3R is that it reduces the amount of waste. It helps in conserving natural resources such as timber, water and minerals. It prevents pollution by reducing the need for new raw materials. Also it is a key to saving energy.
