Hint: Here denominator is the same for both fractions. So we just add two numerators and write the sum of two numbers in the numerator part of the answer. In the denominator part we write the denominator of any of the given fractions.
Complete step by step answer:
The fraction $\dfrac{3}{9}$ means if we divide the whole thing in $9$ parts then we have $3$ parts. The upper part of the fraction is called “Numerator” and the lower part is called “Denominator”.
Here two denominators are the same, so we just have to add two numerators and put it in the numerator part of the answer and in the denominator part we have to put the common denominator. After that if simplification is needed then we have to simplify the fraction.
Here the two numerators are $3$ and $4$ . So the numerator of the answer is $3+4=7$ and the denominator is the common denominator which is $9$ .
\[\dfrac{3}{9}+\dfrac{4}{9} \Rightarrow \dfrac{3+4}{9}=\dfrac{7}{9}\]
Here no simplification is needed because it is in simplified form. Thus the answer is $\dfrac{7}{9}$.
Note: Here denominators are the same, that’s why we have to just add the numerators. If the denominators are not the same then we have to find the least common multiple of two denominators. Now we have to make each denominator equal to the least common multiple by multiplying both numerator and denominator by some value. When the denominators are the same for both, then just add them like the problem we solved above. Then check if it is possible to simplify further. If it is possible then simplify it.
