Man has been inclined towards science from the ancient period. He made his life more comfortable by exploring and taming the elements around him. Science has always held a fascination for man. Daedalus of Greece used science to his advantage and designed the labyrinth that trapped the Minotaur. In India, Sushruta’s surgeries saved lives and proved the utility of a penchant for the sciences.
Science fueled one great invention after another. Many of these inventions were responsible for the advance of civilizations. Galileo’s telescope made us aware of the vastness of the universe. Gutenberg’s printing press made literature available to all those who could read. This singular invention brought literacy into the world and spearheaded modernization.
The sciences were also responsible for the Industrial Revolution. The invention of the steam engine brought in an era of prosperity and plenty. Factories sprung up everywhere and they produced things that man needed to be comfortable in large numbers.
Today, we are living in a world that has been revolutionized by science. We are on the cusp of various scientific breakthroughs like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The wonders of science are many indeed!
