Hint:The chemical which liberates are donate the ${{H}^{+}}$ ion easily then the chemical is called acid and the chemical which accepts the ${{H}^{+}}$ from other is called base. Otherwise the chemical which donates a lone pair of electrons to others is called a base.
Complete step-by-step answer:- In the question it is given to write an equation for the acid –base reaction between ammonium ion and sulfate ion.
- The chemical formula for ammonium ion is $NH_{4}^{+}$ and the chemical formula of sulfate ion is $SO_{4}^{2-}$ .
- Now we have to write the chemical reaction which is going to occur in between ammonium ion and sulfate ion and it is as follows.
\[NH_{4}^{+}+SO_{4}^{2-}\rightleftharpoons N{{H}_{3}}+HSO_{4}^{-}\]
- In the above chemical reaction we can say that ammonium ion is going to react with sulfate anion and forms ammonium and bisulfate as the products.
- The products which are formed are ammonia and bisulfate, ammonia is going to act as a less acidic and bisulfate is going to act as an acid.
- Therefore the reversible reaction is going to act as an acid base reaction means the backward reaction is more favorable than the forward reaction.
Note: The chemical reactions are going to occur as per the law of chemical equilibrium. If the chemical equilibrium favors the formation of the forward reaction then the forward chemical reaction is going to occur or otherwise vice versa is going to occur.
