In today’s world, the student life and cell phones go hand in hand. It’d be rare to know of a student who does not use a cell phone. However, for something that holds so much of value in the modern student’s life, it is important that we know and analyse its use and misuse.

A cell phone has numerous uses. It has given us access to staying connected with each other through instantaneous voice calls and video calls. It has also given us access to the internet. The Internet is the hub of information and has also contributed towards globalisation. The internet is supposed to comprise virtual resources for anything. Gone are the days when accessing the resources and information for the educational purposes was a task for the students. The cameras that come along with our cell phones have given access to photography to everyone. Especially, in our student days where recording everything for social validation has become a norm, having a camera phone seems to have become essential.
A cell phone might have numerous uses but also numerous misuses. It has provided everyone with too much information, information that could be uploaded or edited by anyone. Thus, promoting fake news and conspiracy theories, to which students often fall in the trap of. It has also given rise to various forms of social evil like cyberbullying, to which again the students are more likely to fall in the trap. It has decreased the productivity of the students as some often tend to get distracted by the unnecessary usage of the cell phone.
The list of use and misuse could go on. However, it is important that we understand for ourselves as to what is contributing to our future and make use of it accordingly. Student years are the founding years of our professional lives, let us only make our foundations stronger with the uses of this device.
